I'm doing a science f¨ºte project and..?

I need to know if the mennen infant magic lotion is grease or water base. Add some to water and mix. If it dissolves it is sea based. If you see an grease layer grow at the top it is oil base.
oil (i am prepared to bet $30)
water base if it were grease , it would irritate the babies eyes if used.
read ingredients. 1st is most.
Read the ingredients. They may give you a clue. Most tot "oils" are just that, grease. But see, especially what substance is at the top of the list. If it is primarily dampen based, the first ingredient programmed will be water.
The substance may also be one or the other as a base, near the OTHER substance held in suspension, much approaching you would see after you shook a bottle of italian salad dressing.
I don't know the details of your project, but mightn't it be easier to use substances of KNOWN bases, such as motor grease, salad oil, dyed wet or milk solutions, etc?
