There are NIH/NCI grants AND developments surrounded by nanotech today. There are 4 known centers surrounded by the US that are currently in nouns and/or testing phase for nanotech-based therapy of some nature. So plan on another 10 years beforehand you really see them in management but 4 or 5 years from now start watching NOVA for the first big movers contained by the field.
If you are refering to nano-machines mortal used as medical treatments then the answer is at least possible 20 years before they will even fire up testing them. Of course, an astonishing breakthough could go on at any time and greatly decrease that timeframe.
